8.6 How to Keep Going (Staying Motivated)

There might be some days when you don’t feel like exercising. On days when you feel like this, remind yourself of why you started. Try to still move in some way. It can be as simple as taking the stairs or doing jumping jacks at home. Remember, some movement is better than no movement. Even if you rest for a day or two, it’s ok. Just get started again. Here are some more ways to keep going:

  • Get your family and friends active. It’s much easier to continue when you have someone to exercise with. Keep each other going!
  • Join an exercise group or class at your local gym or community center.
  • Make sure you are doing an activity that you enjoy.
  • Try to learn a new sport.
  • Do a variety of activities.
  • Celebrate your achievements!
  • Purchase a fitness tracker if you are able.
